Does Acupuncture Hurt?

Some of the points can cause Qi sensation. This sensation can sometimes be painful. However, the initial prick is when you feel the Qi sensation but it goes away quickly. When lying down with needles in you stop feeling them, forgetting they are even there. As the practitioner I am not forcing the Qi sensation. This occurs naturally in the body and is a part of the healing.

Are there any Side Effects?

Massage Therapy and Acupuncture are designed to heal however, there can be certain unwanted, minor side-effects after treatment. The most common are: allergic reaction to the essential oils, bruising or slight bleeding from needling and soreness after deep tissue massages. Cupping and gua-sha leave marks on the body. If you have any concerns about unwanted side-effects please feel free to reach out to me.

When is Alternative Healing Not Recommended?

Although most alternative treatments are not contraindicated for any condition; when you are under the care of a licensed medical doctor, I may occasionally request a referral or written approval from your physician to ensure that the treatment is safe and appropriate for your condition. Some examples include chemotherapy treatments, if you are undergoing dialysis or directly after a surgery.

What should I expect from my session?

Each session has it's own private space. Most massage and bodywork techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed; however, it is entirely up to you what you want to wear. You should undress to your level of comfort. You will be properly draped during the entire session. The practitioner always leaves the room when you undress.
