My Approach for Alternative Healing

My approach to alternative healing is pretty simple: I listen—to you, to your body, and to what your life looks like right now. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all treatments. What works beautifully for one person might not be the right fit for someone else, and that’s okay. Together, we figure out what your body is asking for and how we can support it in an effective way.
I see acupuncture, massage, and other holistic therapies as teammates with Western medicine, not competitors. If you’re already working with doctors or other providers, my goal is to complement that care, not replace it.
Alternative healing can help ease pain, calm stress, support better sleep and digestion, and give your system the nudge it needs to start shifting toward balance.
I’ve personally experienced every technique I use, and I offer them because I know how they can help. Sometimes that means a focused acupuncture session, sometimes a deeply therapeutic massage, and sometimes a blend of different tools. At the heart of my approach is this: I want you to feel seen, supported, and cared for—so you can walk out the door feeling just a little (or a lot) better than when you came in.
Lisa's Story

My journey into acupuncture and holistic medicine began when I was seven years old. My mother introduced me to energy work at an early age, and I quickly discovered a natural ability to heal others. That foundation inspired a lifelong passion for helping others reduce pain, improve wellness, and feel more connected to their own body.
Today, I am a licensed acupuncturist in Thornton, Colorado with more than 21 years of experience helping clients manage chronic pain, stress, women’s health concerns, sleep issues, muscle tension, and overall wellness through acupuncture, Chinese medicine, and integrative therapies.
After earning my Associate Degree in Massage Therapy from the Colorado School of Healing Arts, I began my career working in spas and hospitals in downtown Denver. Those experiences strengthened my understanding of pain management, therapeutic bodywork, and how hands-on care can support both physical and emotional healing. Over the years, I incorporated techniques such as neuromuscular therapy, reflexology, essential oils, and warm stone treatments to support recovery, relaxation, and long-term results.
In 2010, I opened my private practice and began focusing more deeply on chronic pain management and injury recovery. While massage therapy provided meaningful relief for many clients, I recognized there were limitations to what bodywork alone could address. I wanted to help people on a deeper level, including internal health concerns and more complex conditions.
That path led me back to school in 2020, where I pursued a Master’s Degree in Acupuncture from the Southwest Acupuncture College. Studying acupuncture and Chinese medicine expanded my ability to treat a variety of conditions such as: insomnia, common colds, allergies, hormonal balance including fertility support and menopause, headaches including migraine, digestive issues, and musculoskeletal pain which does not respond to massage. Acupuncture has allowed me to provide more comprehensive, individualized care and support the body’s natural healing processes in a deeper way.
My approach to acupuncture is centered around listening carefully to each client and creating treatments that are tailored to their unique needs and goals. Whether someone is seeking relief from chronic pain, support during hormonal changes, help with stress and sleep, or a greater sense of balance in their daily life, I believe healing works best when people feel heard, supported, and cared for as a whole person.
Outside of my practice, I enjoy reading, hiking, gardening, cooking, traveling, and spending time with family, friends, and my two dogs, Chowder and Pickles. My husband, David, and I both grew up in Thornton, and we’re proud to continue serving the community we call home.

"I started receiving acupuncture treatments for my menopausal symptoms. It has helped with fatigue, brain fog, night sweats and emotional issues. After the acupuncture I receive my massage using raindrop therapy using essential oils to relax tight muscles and enhancing relaxation. Lisa is amazing, well educated and thorough in her treatments. I highly recommend her."

"It is a great pleasure for me to write this review and endorsement of Lisa Parker Massage and Acupuncture. I have been a client of hers for the last 6-7 years when she was only doing massage. Since that time, she has obtained her degree in Chinese medicine and acupuncture and expanded her therapeutic offerings. I have been receiving acupuncture from her for the past year and have found it to be extremely beneficial for a variety of aches and ailments. I highly recommend acupuncture provided by Lisa Parker."

"Lisa gave a wonderful massage. I tweaked something in my upper back while lifting on Monday, had my massage on Wednesday, and haven’t felt even the slightest twinge since. I would absolutely recommend Lisa’s work to anyone I know."
What Sets My Care Apart

Healing Excellence
Licensed Professional
I am licensed by the State of Colorado in both Acupuncture and Massage Therapy. Additionally, I have been a proud member of the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP) for over 21 years, as well as the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), the national credentialing body for licensed acupuncturists. To maintain and enhance my skills, I continually pursue advanced education and explore new methods of treatment.

Personalized Care
Patient empowerment
While Western medicine excels in many areas, its quick “cure in 15 minutes or less” approach often leaves much to be desired. At my practice, I take the time to truly listen and understand what you need from treatment. Together, we’ll develop a plan that supports your healing and helps you feel your best. My goal is to assist you in your growth and development—helping you heal, feel empowered, and return confidently to your daily activities. Ultimately, I want you to “graduate” from treatment feeling balanced, restored, and whole.

Treating your whole self
Truth behind holistic healing
It can feel daunting to think of your back pain as a “whole-body” issue—but it often is. Alternative health care focuses on seeing you as a complete person, not just a collection of symptoms. How well do you sleep? How is your mental health? These questions matter because true healing begins when your body is supported in restoring its own balance. Holistic care is about engaging the body’s natural ability to heal itself—whether that means calming an overactive thyroid or helping you finally get a good night’s rest. You’d be surprised how often a simple change, like reducing caffeine, can make all the difference. While my treatments focus on relieving symptoms, much of our success comes from listening deeply and guiding your healing journey both in the clinic and at home.
